Hi, my name is Lindsey Lautsbaugh. I live in Cape Town, South Africa with my husband and two boys. I grew up in the United States with, what I considered, a pretty “normal” childhood. When I was 19 years old my path diverged from most of my childhood friends. I packed my bags, hopped on a plane and headed to Africa. I’ve been in love ever since. I’m no longer single but I still live in Africa. I’ve got an amazing husband and two joyful and fun sons. Together, with my husband, we teach and train young South Africans to love and follow Jesus.
Over the years, I lived through a relational roller coaster I now call my life. I look back and can see that my greatest pain and most profound joy came through my relationships. As I heard the stories of others, they sounded a lot like mine… full of relational joy, brokenness and everything in between. One thing I realised we all had in common was this: relationships make up our life and life is our relationships.
Today, my greatest passion is teaching on friendship, family, dating, sexuality and marriage. I’ve taught hundreds of people around the world and it never get’s old.
This blog is my journey and thoughts on how to live out the words of Jesus, “There is nothing greater in life than this; to love God and to love people.” (my paraphrase). It seems that being shaped by my relationships was not an accident… it was God’s intent. This blog is my exploration of what these words of Jesus actually mean.
When I’m not teaching or writing on relationships I’m spending time with my husband, sons or friends. I’m happiest on a date with my husband, laughing with my children or having a “girls night” with friends full of fine cheeses and lots (and lots) of laughter.
